Kamigami no Asobi: Ludere deorum (神々の悪戯, Mischief of the Gods?) is a Japanese visual novel by Nippon Ichi Software and Broccoli. It was released on October 24, 2013 for the PlayStation Portable. An anime television series adaptation by Brain’s Base was announced in December 2013 and aired on April 2014. A fan disc is coming along in 2015-called Kamigami no Asobi: InFinite.
So, the story start with our heroine, Kusanagi Yui (only given name that could be changed) started her Spring Break of her last year in High school. She was pondering about her future as she walked home with her friend. She was asked whether she would take care of her family shrine or any other option but she replied with that she didn’t decide yet. I’ll cut it short since you won’t even remember the human world after this lol.
Going along, when Yui was cleaning the ground of a shrine that her family take care, she felt like she was called by someone. She then searched for the source of the voice and arrived in a storeroom. She saw a box and opened it to find a stone sword.
And that turned the gear of her fate running on full speed…
The Story system is very simple and straightforward. You will be given three choices each time you need to raise the affection of the boys. Each choice will have a Positive Point (+1 Brave), Neutral Point, and Negative Point (-1 Brave). At some point of the story, there will be a main branch called ‘A Point of Fate’ where the story will differ greatly depending on your choice. Some choice in this part needed certain amount of Brave Point.
The story is branched to two main parts that are General Story and Main Story. General Story branched into 2 (3 after you finished at least one ending of all of the main character ending) and that are Student Council and Extracurricular Club. You get a different set of character to choose depending on your activity.
After the General Story, you will get to Main Story where you will experience the story of each boy of your choice. The story would branch into Fate Path and Love Path, with two ending waiting at each path of this story.
Aside from reading the main story, at each end of the chapter, you will get a Mythology Quiz in which the character with the highest affection will be your navigator and the question would be dependent with which your navigator is. If you scored S you will get some decoration for Miniature Garden.
Another feature of this game is Miniature Garden where we could watch the chibi character of the existing love interest walking around. First, you need to win them from Mythology Quiz of respective character though. Arranging the object and house in the Garden would let you unlock a special mini-event that only could be viewed in the Garden.
Aside from the actual playable feature of this game, there is also special scenario called as Mythology Monologue. This Mythology Monologue is, in short, a certain story scene in the love interest point of view, aka their thought. You get it throughout the Main Story using various choices (even the Negative and Neutral choice) to unlock it.
Except for learning Japanese if you want to understand what is the character are saying then I have nothing else to say, since most of the time an Otome Game wouldn’t go to West. I recommend playing through the certain ‘blonde’ Norse Gods first before moving to another character. You might want to clear the Fate Path first before moving to Love Path as well. The game isn’t kidding about ‘Love is Pain’ so prepare yourself for this.
