Based on the popular anime/manga series “Neon Genesis Evangelion” comes a Re-imagined movie series called “Rebuild of Evangelion” which is used as a basis for this game!
Not much to say, the game uses video clips from the rebuild movies and sometimes using 3D graphics/models reenacting key scenarios from the movie(s).
The quality of the videos are quite High from your average psp video converter.
The 3d models looks average at most, but i guess that’s what they’re aiming at since it is a Rhythm game.
When i think of an Evangelion game, all i can imagine are blood and gore, semi-mecha’s ripping and tearing angels apart and all the violent goodness!
BUT! this isn’t it.. of all the bizarre genre, this Evangelion game turned out to be a rhythm game based on the rebuild movie series..
But despite all of that, this is still a pretty decent rhythm game (to my surprise.)
Keep in mind that this is basically just a rhythm game nothing more nothing less.
the difficulty can get really really challenging very quick! But its not that hard to complete them, as long as you’re not aiming for perfect scores in tracks with higher difficulty.
The game has 30(?) tracks overall.
Most are rhythm mini-games, from fending off angels to synchronizing emotions to clearing up hexes.
The rhythm of the songs are sometimes absurd that you mostly miss despite following the track’s rhythm.
It’s a worthy Rhythm game that even Project Diva fans can appreciate!
The selections are really good if you’re a fan of Evangelion! if you have trouble remembering the soundtracks from the anime, this will surely refresh your memories!
I like the track “Tsubasa wo kudasai”,which stirred some emotions in me while watching some clips of Rei Ayanami playing in the background..
I can’t really recommend this to non-fans of either Evangelion and Rhythm games.
the reason for that is, this game was made for the fans! its a fan service game (not that kind of service you hentai minded person you~) and it strictly caters to the fans of the series, period!
But, if you’re willing to take a chance on this, i don’t see any particular reason why you shouldn’t pick this up either.
