Review by Placebo_yue:
Digimon World is a 1999 game, based on the V-pets (digimon’s tamagochi), not the anime.
Because of that, the gameplay is very similar, where you have to feed, take to the bathroom, praise and scold your digimons. All of that, along with the training you decide to give it, will affect the type of digimon you get.
But it’s not just that! It’s full of places to discover, a day/afternoon/night shift, random Digimons to fight, and some to meet and recruit to rebuild File City, most of them after a fight, some after helping them somehow. They all show some personality, which makes the game a nice and immersive experience.
The game is not linear, you can recruit Digimons in any order, except for some fixed boss fights (like Greymon, Ogremon or Airdramon) when you reach a certain recruit percentage, or unlock a new area.
Like the V-pets, your Digimon will eventually die, and reborn in a Digitama (digi-egg) allowing you to raise every kind of Digimon. And you can keep a record of some of them for 2 Player battles.
If you’re a fan of Digimon, this game is a must have.
If you’re not, but you like RPGs, or pokemon, you should also play it.
