Katamari Damacy is a Third Person Puzzle Action Game??? That is as far as I can explain it since the game series actually doesn’t conform to any one genre. It was developed and localized by Namco Bandai Games.

The story starts with the King of All Cosmos taking a dive into the sea and annihilating all the island habitats in the area. The animals come seeking assistance in restoring their homes to their former glory. That’s where the Prince comes in.

The Prince is the small guy there that was given the job of producing new islands with the “Katamari.” Katamari is basically a ball that sticks anything it rolls over onto it.
The goal of each level is to roll up a Katamari of suitable size and allow the King of All Cosmos to convert it into islands for the animals.
Larger Katamaris produce better islands so it is good to replay levels if you want to.

You can roll over anything when you are large enough. People, Animals, Buildings, Islands itself. Heck I even rolled up the Japanese God of Thunder at some point.

If you don’t like playing as the Prince, you may switch to his cousins that you collect over the course of the stages. There are 2-4 cousins located in each stage. They’re those little(or big) guys that sorta look like the Prince but they’re a different shape and color.
