Review by LordZemus:
Monster racers could be said to be the equivalent of Pokemon in a racing universe where instead of fighting each other they solve things by racing.
1- The story is nothing out of the ordinary you haven’t already seen in many cliché kid superhero TV shows: main character wants to be the best and participates in world tournament (actual real world places and continents, pretty neat actually), evil pathetic organization does crime with racing and everything is solved through racing instead of common sense, and somehow it works.
2- You get and capture monsters to participate in races and each one has its own abilities, active skills and terrain aptitude that can make all the difference when racing. You can level them up to learn new skills and make them faster, stronger and harder. Sadly no transformation or evolution feature, but you can have 2 monster breed an offspring with both traits of its parents.
3- At the beginning races will be quite simple and straightforward, but as you advance through the game, they get trickier and with more terrain hazards, so you have to memorize the terrain layout, remember the powerups location during races and use the correct monster for each race. So despite being a kids game, it has its fair share of challenge, even for a grown up.
Monster Racers is a neat little racing game with heavy RPG elements and despite being E for everyone, it can give quite the challenge and depth to its gameplay ; try it, it won’t disappoint you.
One last thing I’d like to mention is that the monsters are either scary looking, cute or even downright silly:
Seriously?!? A wolf with a flower up it’s arse?!?Just look at it’s face , he is in pain , for Christs sake!
